Biography

Robert Maggio's music has been performed by the Boston Pops, Philadelphia Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Oakland East Bay Symphony, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, New York Festival of Song, Meridian Arts Ensemble, Detroit Chamber Winds, Orchestra 2001, New York Youth Symphony, The Crossing, Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia, and the Network for New Music. He has composed music for the Pennsylvania Ballet, Ballet X, 10 Hairy Legs, Philadelphia Theater Company, People's Light and Theater Company, Yale Repertory Theater, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Shakespeare on the Sound, Philadelphia Drama Guild, American Dance Festival, Randy James Dance Works, Stephen Pelton Dance Theater, Leah Stein and Dancers. Maggio's music is recorded on the Summit, CRI and Albany Record labels as well as independent labels: Seven Mad Gods (1996), Riddles (2001), Orchestra 2001: River Song (2003), Choral Music: The Wishing Tree (2004), Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus: Open Road (2006), Matthew Korbanic: 8 String Guitar (2008), The American Brass Quintet at 50 (2010), String Quartets (2011), Electrum Duo: Introductions (2012), Jackson Sounds (2012), Lara St. John: Polkastra (2012), Clint Allen: Impulse (2013), The Fall of Freddy the Leaf (2014). His vocal/choral, chamber, band, and orchestral music is published by Theodore Presser Co., King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Maggio has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Pew Fellowships in the Arts, New Music USA, the NJ State Council on the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Meet the Composer, ASCAP, and BMI. He is currently a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.
