Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Lisa C. Huebner is a feminist sociologist of gender and Professor in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. For over twenty years, Dr. Huebner has studied, applied, taught, and published in the areas of intersectionality theory and sociology of gender as it relates to the experiences of women of color college students, nursing and other forms of care work, human trafficking, intimate violence, and immigration. Her publications include Catheters, Slurs, and Pickup Lines: Professional Intimacy in Hospital Nursing(Temple University Press, 2012) and "Fear, Fraud, and Frank Complexities: The Influence of Gender on Human Trafficking" in Human Trafficking: Interdisciplinary Perspectives (Routledge, 2013). Dr. Huebner just received a WCU Foundation grant to publish and expand her current ethnographic research on the experiences of women of color college students to explain their success in college and the obstacles they face.
