Dr.%20Roger%20Gatchet%20teaches%20undergraduate%20courses%20in%20public%20speaking,%20communication%20theory,%20and%20rhetorical%20theory%20and%20criticism.%20At%20the%20graduate%20level%20he%20also%20teaches%20seminars%20that%20survey%20foundational%20theories%20of%20communication%20and%20rhetorical%20approaches%20to%20studying%20popular%20culture.%20%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3E%0AGatchet's%20research%20focuses%20on%20the%20rhetoric%20of%20public%20memory%20and%20popular%20culture,%20as%20well%20as%20oral%20history.%20He%20has%20completed%20oral%20history%20projects%20interviewing%20blues%20musicians%20in%20Austin,%20Texas%20through%20partnerships%20with%20the%20Project%20in%20Interpreting%20the%20Texas%20Past%20and%20Baylor%20University's%20Institute%20for%20Oral%20History,%20which%20awarded%20him%20the%20Charlton%20Oral%20History%20Research%20Grant.%20In%202016%20he%20was%20the%20recipient%20of%20the%20Oral%20History%20Association's%20Elizabeth%20B.%20Mason%20Project%20Award.%20His%20current%20project%20focuses%20on%20the%20history%20and%20rhetoric%20of%20civil%20rights%20tourism%20in%20the%20state%20of%20Mississippi.%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3E%0AGatchet's%20research%20has%20appeared%20in%20journals%20such%20as%20%3Cem%3ECommunication%20and%20Critical/Cultural%20Studies,%20Western%20Journal%20of%20Communication,%20Southern%20Communication%20Journal%3C/em%3E,%20and%20%3Cem%3EOral%20History%20Review%3C/em%3E,%20as%20well%20as%20chapters%20in%20edited%20book%20collections.%20He%20is%20a%20coauthor%20of%20%3Cem%3EArgumentation%20and%20Debate:%20A%20Public%20Speaking%20Approach%3C/em%3E%20(3rd%20ed.),%20and%20was%20the%20co-recipient%20of%20the%20Western%20States%20Communication%20Association's%20B.%20Aubrey%20Fisher%20Outstanding%20Journal%20Article%20Award%20in%202018.%20
