Bio
Dr. Joshua Raclaw an Associate Professor of Linguistics and English at West Chester University. Their research draws on conversation analysis and linguistic anthropology to look at different aspects of language use in the United States. One of Raclaw's areas of expertise is in the sociolinguistics of gender and sexuality; they are currently researching the use of non-binary pronouns like singular 'they', neopronouns, and rolling pronouns like 'she/they' and 'they/he' among English speakers. Raclaw also has expertise in the role of gesture and the body in English conversation, and his research has looked at how speakers use eye gaze, laughter, and touch alongside everyday language use.
