Dr.%20Janet%20Chang%20is%20a%20social-cultural%20psychologist%20whose%20research%20examines%20culture,%20coping,%20mental%20health,%20and%20well-being%20among%20vulnerable%20populations,%20including%20first-generation%20college%20students,%20Latinx,%20and%20Asian%20Americans.%20She%20examines%20how%20cultural%20values%20and%20norms%20--%20tied%20to%20race/ethnicity%20and%20social%20class%20--%20influence%20help%20seeking,%20with%20a%20focus%20on%20social%20support%20(i.e.,%20turning%20to%20others%20for%20emotional%20comfort%20and%20assistance)%20and%20coping%20behaviors%20(e.g.,%20self-reliance).%20She%20investigates%20ethnic/racial%20disparities%20in%20mental%20health%20and%20sociocultural%20influences%20on%20psychological%20functioning%20among%20diverse%20ethnic/racial%20groups.%20She%20was%20funded%20by%20the%20Robert%20Wood%20Johnson%20Foundation%20New%20Connections%20Program%20(2009-2012)%20to%20examine%20the%20relationship%20between%20social%20networks%20and%20mental%20health%20among%20Asian%20and%20Latinx%20Americans.
