Since%20coming%20to%20West%20Chester%20in%201996,%20Dr.%20Lisa%20Kirschenbaum%20has%20developed%20classes%20in%20Soviet%20and%20Russian%20history%20as%20well%20as%20thematic%20courses%20that%20transcend%20national%20boundaries.%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3E%0AKirschenbaum's%20research%20explores%20how%20people%20come%20to%20represent%20and%20understand%20their%20life%20stories%20as%20part%20of%20history,%20focusing%20on%20the%20linkages%20between%20individual,%20private%20lives%20and%20the%20momentous,%20often%20traumatic%20events%20of%20Russia's%20twentieth%20century.%20She%20has%20published%20three%20books:%20%3Cem%3ESmall%20Comrades:%20Revolutionizing%20Childhood%20in%20Soviet%20Russia,%201917-1932%3C/em%3E%20(RoutledgeFalmer,%202000);%20%3Cem%3EThe%20Legacy%20of%20the%20Siege%20of%20Leningrad,%201941-1995:%20Myth,%20Memories,%20and%20Monuments%3C/em%3E%20(Cambridge%20University%20Press,%202006);%20and%20%3Cem%3EInternational%20Communism%20and%20the%20Spanish%20Civil%20War:%20Solidarity%20and%20Suspicion%3C/em%3E%20(Cambridge%20University%20Press%202015).%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3E%20Her%20current%20research%20focuses%20on%20cultural%20relations%20between%20the%20US%20and%20Soviet%20Union%20in%20the%201930s.%20Her%20book%20%3Cem%3EInternational%20Communism%20and%20the%20Spanish%20Civil%20War%3C/em%3E%20won%20the%202016%20Heldt%20Prize%20from%20the%20Association%20for%20Women%20in%20Slavic%20Studies.%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3E%0AKirschenbaum's%20research%20has%20been%20supported%20by%20grants%20from%20the%20National%20Endowment%20for%20the%20Humanities,%20the%20Kennan%20Institute%20for%20Advanced%20Russian%20Studies,%20the%20International%20Research%20and%20Exchanges%20Board,%20and%20the%20Penn%20Humanities%20Forum.%20In%202009,%20Kirschenbaum%20was%20awarded%20the%20West%20Chester%20University%20Trustees'%20Achievement%20Award.%0A
