Dr. Sung Jin Park is a globally acclaimed soprano celebrated for her clear, radiant voice and wide-ranging repertoire that has captivated audiences worldwide. Known for performances that combine technical brilliance, emotional depth, and a commanding stage presence, she has established herself as both a sought-after performer and a dedicated educator.
A winner of the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition and the Southern Illinois Young Artist Organization Vocal Competition, Dr. Park has also received the Bella Voce Award from the Bel Canto Competition, the Josephine L. LiPuma Scholarship from the CASA Italian Competition, and the Verdell Frazier Young Award from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2019, she was further recognized with a Certificate of Commendation from the County of Bergen, New Jersey.
On the operatic stage, she has appeared in leading roles including Violetta (La Traviata), Mimì (La Bohème), Adele (Die Fledermaus), and Adina (L’elisir d’amore), among others. She also created the title role in the world premiere of Opera Bari with the Seoul Metropolitan Opera. As a concert artist, she has performed as soloist with ensembles such as the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, earning acclaim for her expressive interpretations and artistry in both large-scale and intimate settings.
Beyond performance, Dr. Park is deeply committed to advancing the vocal arts through teaching, research, and innovative programming. She has curated and premiered contemporary works in collaboration with living composers and has been an active member of the Vocal Music Symposium (formerly Women in Music) since 2014. Her entrepreneurial projects have received major support, including grants from the Seoul Mayor’s Office, the Seoul Cultural Foundation, and the Korean Research Foundation.
Dr. Park currently serves as an Instructor of Voice at West Chester University and Assistant Conductor of the Oratorio Society of Queens, where she continues to share her artistry, scholarship, and passion for music with students, colleagues, and audiences alike.
She holds degrees from Seoul National University (B.M.), Binghamton University, SUNY (M.M.), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (D.M.A.).
