Curriculum Vitae
Brian Cox is the Business Manager of the Wells School of Music and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at West Chester University. With eight years of experience in the Pennsylvania Public Schools, Brian previously held the position of Director of Bands at Central Bucks High School South. Under his leadership, the program experienced substantial growth, doubling in size while consistently elevating the excellence of each ensemble.
Brian earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Master's in Music Degree in Wind Band Conducting, both from West Chester University. His educational philosophy centers around using music as a tool to cultivate better individuals. Brian firmly believes in creating a safe learning environment for students to make mistakes, fostering growth and personal development within the band room.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to his program, Brian was honored with the 2021 PMEA Citation of Excellence Award for District 11. He has actively participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, serving on the PMEA District 11 board for six years, including a two-year term as District 11 President. Brian is also a member of the National Association for Music Education and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
