Curriculum Vitae
Elesa Kravets serves as an adjunct professor of Music Education at West Chester University. She instructs courses in the Music Education and Music Therapy program, including Beginning Ensembles and Ensemble Methods (Choral). Her research focuses on the intersection of voice science, health, and pedagogy. She is dedicated to making voice health accessible to all and believes that it should be a common standard in the choral classroom. In her work, she emphasizes strategies for sustainable voice use and the collaboration of voice teachers with medical teams of laryngologists and speech-language pathologists. Professor Kravets believes that music-making fosters community and overall well-being, and she actively seeks opportunities to support such initiatives.
Prior to joining the faculty at West Chester University, Professor Kravets taught choral music in the Delaware public school system, where she directed ensembles, developed curriculum, and fostered student engagement in the arts. She currently maintains a vibrant private voice studio and serves as Director of the Children’s Choir for Lyrica Sacra, a nonprofit arts organization in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, where she provides instruction in vocal technique and musical literacy. In addition, Professor Kravets appears as a guest clinician throughout the country, workshopping research-based vocal techniques with choirs and integrating them into their repertoire to promote vocal health. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
Alongside her teaching and research, Professor Kravets performs as a lyric coloratura soprano. Her repertoire encompasses oratorio, opera, art song, and contemporary works. She travels internationally as a soloist, as well as appears in local concerts in the Lancaster and Chester Counties. Her performance experience informs her teaching and research, allowing her to integrate practical vocal technique and artistic insight into her work with students. Professor Kravets holds degrees from Westminster Choir College and West Chester University.
