Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Erin Kauppila is the Director of Instrumental Music at Oxford Area High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from West Chester University, Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Innovation and Leadership from Wilmington University. Dr. Kauppila has worked at OAHS more than 20 years teaching the marching, concert and jazz bands; string orchestra; Music Theory; and 3 levels of Guitar. Dr. Kauppila is a freelance trumpet player and performs regularly in the area. In the summer, she is on the faculty at West Chester University Wells School of Music and regularly presents at local, state, and national conferences. She is the Director of Youth Music at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville. She resides in Oxford with her husband and two sons. In 2025, Dr. Kauppila was honored to receive the PMEA District 12 Citation of Excellence Award.
