Biography

Dr. Brittany Severino is a certified special education teacher and general education teacher (PreK-12th grade) in Pennsylvania. She earned her M.Ed. in Special Education and Ed.D. in Policy, Planning, and Administration from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Before becoming an assistant professor at WCU, she worked as a high school learning support and emotional support teacher for a public school district in Chester County and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) as a job coach and community-based living and learning teacher supporting secondary students with transition planning and services. Dr. Severino also worked as an adjunct professor teaching undergraduate and graduate special education courses at Cabrini University and Eastern University. Dr. Severino’s research interests include Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), caseload management for pre-service teachers, transition planning, and the retention and attrition of special education teachers.
