We know that paying for graduate school is a significant investment and want to provide you with information about funding opportunities. Below you will find information on potential funding sources for your graduate education, such as financial aid, scholarships, graduate assistantships, and more. We hope that these resources will be helpful to you as a graduate student at West Chester University.

graduate assistantships

A graduate assistantship is an opportunity to work on campus in a research or service-oriented capacity in order to gain valuable work experience in higher education or an academic field and earn a tuition waiver and stipend.

Employer Reimbursement

West Chester University's employer reimbursement plan allows participants to defer their tuition payments until the completion of the semester, with no finance or interest charges. This plan is designed for students whose employers offer reimbursement for tuition charges, upon completion of the semester.

Financial aid

West Chester University is committed to providing financial aid to help make graduate education accessible so that we may continue to build a talented and diverse graduate student community. View a graduate student financial aid guide for more information.

Scholarships

West Chester University offers scholarships to help graduate students save money and reduce the need for student loans. University admittance through The Graduate School is required in order to apply for scholarships. However, students are welcome to search for scholarship opportunities on the WCU's Scholarship Manager at any time. Keep in mind that not all applications are available at the same time, so it is important to periodically check for any updates. Questions regarding the scholarship website or the scholarship process in general can be directed to the Office of Financial Aid at 610-436-2627 or finaidsch@wcupa.edu.

International student scholarship

The Graduate Dean’s Scholarship for Global Diversity & Academic Achievement is awarded to international students studying on a F1 Visa in a total amount of up to $6,000 per academic year ($3,000 per semester for the Spring and Fall semesters). Preference will be given to international students studying on a F1 enrolled in their second semester at West Chester University. The scholarship is renewable for one additional year for recipients who maintain a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0.

Fund for Unpaid Internships

West Chester University's Fund for Unpaid Internships seeks to ensure no student has to turn down an internship because of a financial barrier. Graduate students, including international students, with an offer for an internship that is unpaid can apply for either a wage stipend or scholarship depending on eligibility.  Please review full details under Eligibility Requirements.  The application can be found in WCU's Scholarship Manager
