Awards and Recognition

Fraternities and sororities were founded to support the academic mission, vision, and values of the host institution where a chapter is recognized. The Office for Fraternity and Sorority Life conducts a yearly assessment of its chapters in order to determine how the core values of individual fraternities and sororities support West Chester University. It is also the intention of the Office for Fraternity and Sorority Life to evaluate its impact on the co-curricular experience at WCU.

Award Applications for the 2024 Academic Year

 

Outstanding Chapter President - MGC

This award will be presented to the fraternity or sorority president within the Multicultural Greek Council who has excelled in the leadership, development, and improvement of their chapter. Qualified candidates will have exemplified the true meaning of fraternity/sorority leadership and a commitment to the overall fraternity and sorority community by going above and beyond their call of duty in improving themselves as leaders and enhancing the overall chapter's structure and organization.

While submitting your nomination, for yourself or someone else, please include the following information in your awards nomination letter. 

  • Briefly list the nominee's accomplishments during their presidency
    What characteristics does the nominee have that make them a good leader? 
    Please describe how the nominee motivated members and helped their chapter to improve the chapter’s structure, operations, and culture.

Qualified candidates will have exemplified the true meaning of fraternity/sorority leadership and a commitment to the overall fraternity and sorority community by going above and beyond their call of duty in improving themselves as leaders and enhancing the overall chapter's structure and organization.

Qualified candidates demonstrate on a daily basis how they live their fraternity values and what it truly means to be an exceptional individual both inside and outside the fraternity and sorority community.

List all the positions and terms of office that the nominee has held in his chapter and within the FSL community.
What contributions and accomplishments has this nominee made to the campus community (both inside and outside the fraternity and sorority community)? 
Why do you believe this person deserves to be recognized as Fraternity Member of the Year? 

 

Sorority Member of the Year

Peter C. Galloway Advisor Award

This award will be given to the advisor who best represents commitment and dedication to the furtherance of a fraternity or sorority chapter at West Chester University. This individual has willingly and successfully influenced the chapter through active oversight of their academics, community service initiatives, and/or leadership development programs.

While submitting your nomination, for yourself or someone else, please include the following information in your awards nomination letter. 

How many years has this advisor served the chapter? 
Please list the contributions and accomplishments that the nominee has made to the chapter
Describe how the advisor is involved with the chapter and the ways in which they motivate the chapter. This includes mentorship, advising virtual support, etc. 
Describe the lasting impact made by the guidance and support of the advisor.
