Sustainability & Environmental Sciences

The Geography and Planning Department at West Chester University of Pennsylvania is dedicated to exploring the intricate relationship between humans and the environment. Through in-depth academic programs and hands-on research, we strive to understand and address the complex challenges posed by our changing world. Our focus areas include environmental geography, environmental planning, urban sustainability, sustainable living, conservation, and techniques such as GIS and drones.

Students that choose to study in our department are passionate about how to protect and preserve our Earth from environmental issues and have interests in topics such as biogeography, landscape conservation, sustainability engagement, geospatial technologies, and climate change, just to name a few. Our programs offer a comprehensive curriculum that integrates geographic studies with sustainability, environmental sciences, and conservation, providing students with a holistic understanding of environmental issues.
