Daily Crime Log
Welcome to West Chester University's Online Daily Crime Log. An institution that maintains a campus police or campus security department must maintain a written, easily understood daily crime log that records, by the date the crime was reported, any crime that occurred within its Clery geography and was reported to the campus police or the campus security department. This log must include—
(i) The nature, date, time, and general location of each crime; and
(ii) The disposition of the complaint, if known.
A campus must maintain a Daily Crime Log accurately reflecting reported crime for the most recent 60-day period, open to public inspection, free of charge, and produced upon request during normal business hours. The Department of Public Safety also maintains a paper crime log at its Public Safety location.
For West Chester's Graduate Center location, the crimes in the Daily Crime Log are those reported to either a Campus Security Authority or the West Goshen Township Police Department. 1
The Online crime log can be accessed by clicking the month and year tab(s) below.
- Times in the Daily Crime Log are listed in the 24-hour, or "Military Time," format. To determine whether the listed time is AM or PM, add or subtract 12. For example, if the time listed is 0049, add 12 to get 12:49 AM. If the time is 1710, subtract 12 to get 5:10 PM.
- Incidents in the Daily Crime Log are listed with the most recent incident first
- If viewing the Daily Crime Log on a mobile phone, turn the phone horizontally for a better view.
- Where applicable, a breakdown of dispositions in a single incident will be shown. For example, if an incident resulted in two citations and three referrals to student conduct, the column would show: "Citation Issued (2) and Referred to Student Conduct (3)."
Guide to Disposition Definitions
ARREST WARRANT ISSUED- A warrant was signed by a magistrate, instructing law enforcement to take the defendant into custody
CITATION ISSUED- The individual or individuals involved are given a citation at the time of the incident or are informed that a citation will be mailed to the address on their government-issued ID.
CLEARED CLOSED BY OTHER MEANS- The incident is closed without the issuing of a citation, physical arrest, or referral to student conduct. This disposition can also mean another law enforcement agency, department, or office on campus is handling the incident
OPEN- An investigation is ongoing, or more information is being gathered before other action is taken on the case
PHYSICAL ARREST- The individual or individuals were placed into custody, or otherwise arrested by law enforcement
PROSECUTION DECLINED BY VICTIM- The victim in the case has declined to press charges or otherwise pursue the case. This could include cases in which the university or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is considered the victim of the alleged crime.
REFERRED TO STUDENT CONDUCT- The matter is referred for a violation of the West Chester University Student Code of Conduct. For Clery Act purposes, a matter is considered 'Referred' when "a person is referred to any campus official who initiates a disciplinary action of which a record is kept and which may (but does not have to) result in the imposition of a sanction."
UNFOUNDED- sworn or commissioned law enforcement personnel make a formal determination that the report is false or baseless
