Dr. Nikki Correa is a licensed professional high school counselor from Las Vegas, NV. She obtained her Masters in School Counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her Ph.D in Counselor Education and Supervision from Oregon State University. She teaches trauma and crisis intervention work, organization and administration of school counseling programs, and field experience courses. 

Dr. Correa’s research interests include suicidality, school counselor preparedness in handling crisis, NSSI, college access for first-generation students, adventure-based counseling, and family systems. Her passion is in advocating for the school counseling profession and the well-being of K-12 students.  Recently, she published Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI): What School Counselors Need to Know to Support their Students and Examining the Mental Health Impacts of COVID-19 on K-12 Mental Health Providers, School Teachers, and Students.  She is currently wrapping up research on the school counselor’s experiences of losing a student to suicide.  Dr. Correa hopes her efforts contribute to improving mental health in schools while supporting school counselors in their work with students in crisis.
