Rebecca Wojcik

philosophy

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and educator, my teaching philosophy is grounded in bridging foundational nutritional science with real-world application. I believe that true learning in dietetics occurs when students not only grasp theoretical knowledge but also learn how to apply it thoughtfully, adaptively, and empathetically in diverse professional settings. My role as an educator is to guide, mentor, and empower students as they navigate their academic journeys—from undergraduate coursework and graduate studies through the dietetic internship, passing the RDN exam, and launching meaningful careers in nutrition and dietetics.

Bridging Foundations with Real-World Application
Nutrition and dietetics requires both scientific rigor and practical execution. Leveraging my background in clinical practice, MNT counseling, leadership, teaching, and program planning, I design courses and supervised practice experiences that mirror real-world practice through meaningful projects with real-world scenarios and outcomes.

Cultivating Core Interpersonal and Professional Skills
Effective dietetics practice requires strong communication, empathy, and collaboration alongside technical expertise. Teaching key interpersonal skills is central to my educational approach, preparing students to lead, counsel, and navigate complex healthcare environments.

Mentorship Throughout the Professional Continuum
My commitment to students extends far beyond classroom walls. I view education as a lifelong pathway and take immense pride in mentoring students through every stage of their professional development. Through my leadership with the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and dedicated academic mentorship, I support students from undergraduate and graduate studies through the dietetic internship and graduate program selection process. I provide hands-on guidance with RDN exam preparation, resume building, and job placement to ensure graduates successfully transition into the workforce.

Instilling Curiosity, Adaptability, and a Passion for Lifelong Learning
The field of nutrition is constantly evolving with emerging research, changing technology, and shifting healthcare paradigms. My goal is to foster a learning environment built on curiosity and critical thinking, encouraging students to question assumptions, evaluate evidence, and remain adaptable. By instilling a genuine love of learning, I prepare students to do more than pass an exam or land an entry-level job. My goal is to cultivate innovative, compassionate leaders who thrive in dietetics and transform lives through the power of food and nutrition.
