2025 Events

Members of Sociology Club visited Valley Forge in the Spring of 2025. The Sociology Club’s visit to Valley Forge offered an opportunity to connect historical experience with sociological analysis. Valley Forge is not only a military site but also a social space that reveals how collective hardship, inequality, and institutional power shape social life. The site also encourages reflection on how national identity and collective memory are socially constructed through monuments, narratives, and public history. By visiting Valley Forge, the Sociology Club engaged with the ways social structures, power relations, and shared meanings influence both historical events and how they are remembered today.
Sociology Club attended the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. The celebration reflects how traditions are adapted and reinterpreted within different social contexts, while the surrounding monuments and institutions emphasize the role of the state in organizing national culture and identity. Through this visit, the Sociology Club examined how culture, power, and social interaction come together in public celebrations to produce shared meanings and social cohesion.

Fundraising
A succulent sale was held in the Fall of 2025. Below, officers (Rachel Nemeth and Sophia Loomis) are pictured tabling for the fundraiser. The club hopes to host more fundraising events in the future!

Community Service
Sociology Club continues to volunteer at the Baptist Church in West Chester on the weekends. If you have suggestions or input about more opportunities, please let us know!
