529 Plans

Many states and financial services institutions offer 529 savings programs for families to save money for a child’s college education.  Each financial service has separate rules and regulations governing how funds may be used and how to have monies sent to West Chester University. Please check with your provider about how and when to request release of funds, as well as what documents, such as an electronic copy of the student’s bill, are needed so WCU receives the funds by the bill due date.  Deduct that amount from your bill and pay any remaining balance by the due date.

West Chester University does not request funds from College Savings Plans. To ensure funds arrive in a timely manner, follow all instructions provided by your College Savings Plan.

Once funds have been requested, please email the Bursar’s Office a copy of the signed Payment Authorization Form or transfer confirmation from your 529 institution. If the requested 529 payment covers the balance, WCU will activate the student’s account to secure their class schedule. Any remaining balance will need to be paid by the due date.

Please email a copy of the Authorization form or transfer confirmation to your Account Representative:

For students whose last name begins with:

Please send all 529 Payments for WCU charges to the Bursar's Office, have all providers include the student's name and WCU ID:

It is the student’s responsibility to monitor their account to verify WCU receives the 529 payment.
