The Global Engagement Office (GEO) was established in 1973.  Formally called the Global Engagement Office, the GEO provides essential support services for international students, visiting scholars, education abroad, and the National Student Exchange.

Students are encouraged to participate in semester or year-long study abroad programs as well as spring break and summer faculty-led programs. The GEO hosts a Study Abroad Fair each fall in Sykes Student Union where students have the opportunity to meet with WCU faculty and study abroad representatives to learn about programs all over the world. In addition, study abroad representatives visit campus during the spring semester. The schedule for these visits is available in the office at the beginning of each spring semester.

The GEO assists international students to gain entry to WCU, to serve these students once enrolled and to educate U.S. students globally by fostering opportunities for education abroad and exchange programs. All West Chester University immigration services are provided through the GEO. A variety of services such as immigration advising, programming and orientation are provided for scholars and students from WCU and more than 40 countries.
