The English Department at WCU offers one undergraduate major, the English BA, along with a variety of undergraduate minors and graduate programs. 

Undergraduate Major

The English BA has recently been redesigned to give English majors more options for matching a program of study to their passions, more instruction critical job skills, and more access to the diverse expertise of our faculty. Click below for more on this new program, starting Fall 2021!

Undergraduate Minors

The English department offers exciting minors in fields like Professional and Technical Writing, Creative Writing, African/African American Literature, and Journalism. An English Minor can be a great way for students in any field to build cultural competencies and learn writing skills.

Graduate Programs

At the graduate level, the English Department at WCU offers and MA program with three tracks of study Literature; Creative Writing; and Writing, Teaching, & Criticism. We also offer a graduate Publishing Certificate.
