Poetry Conference Fiscal Review

WCU engaged the firm of Baker Tilly International to conduct a financial assessment of the Poetry Center through five fiscal years, beginning 2009-10 through 2013-14. This independent review was commissioned in response to various claims that the University and its affiliated Foundation were mishandling Poetry Center funds. Baker Tilly's analysis began in the fall of 2015 and WCU received their report on June 3, 2016. The principal findings are as follows:

  1. There is no evidence of any misappropriation of Poetry Center resources by WCU or the WCU Foundation.
  2. There was a significant lack of accountability on the part of the Poetry Center to maintain appropriate records for its operations and evidence of financial accountability.
