To leverage the power of GIS, the Center supports a range of community-based projects to solve a range of community challenges using geospatial technologies. Faculty, staff, and students have the expertise and commitment to serve the needs of our community.

Through internships, classroom-based projects, commissioned research, board service, and other activities, the College of Business and Public Management has considerable impact on the local and regional community.

Commissioned Research

The Center works with a number of local governments, local businesses, and community organization on applied research projects that leverage University resources to solve problems.

Clients have included West Chester Borough, the West Chester Business Improvement District (BID), the West Chester Chamber of Commerce, West Whiteland Township, East Fallowfield Township, Art Partners Studio, the Borough of Oxford, Borough of Parksburg, the Borough of South Coatesville, Brandywine Valley Association, Chester County 2020, Chester County Economic Development Council, Chester County Historical Society, the City of Harrisburg, East Bradford Township Forest Restoration Program, Fame Firestation Co, Gordon Natural Area, Marple Township, Natural Land Trust, New Castle County, Newtown Township, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Upper Makefield Township, and Philadelphia Water Department among others.

Internships

Student interns have worked with local governments, local businesses, and community organizations to build GIS systems, and apply GIS in many capacities.

Internships can be structured to meet the needs of the employer.
