West Chester University Honors College Mission Statement
The West Chester University Honors College prepares students for lives of purpose, engaged in local and global communities. We aim to deliver transformative learning experiences for students looking to become leaders in addressing the most important questions facing our world.
Award Descriptions
Early Career Service Award
This award recognizes a West Chester University Honors College alumnus/a early in their career who has shown a strong and ongoing commitment to life-long learning, service, leadership, and/or civic engagement.
Eligibility:
- Must have graduated 3-9 years ago (Class of 2016-2022)
- Must have graduated from the Honors College (all pathways welcome – Foundations
(Formerly “Core”), Bridge, or Seminar)
Criteria:
Nominees must demonstrate:
- Scholarship: Continued education and a commitment to lifelong learning
- Leadership: Strong leadership in their career or elsewhere
- Community Service: Active engagement in improving their community
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honors a West Chester University Honors College alumnus/a, established in their career, who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in their field, community, or beyond.
Eligibility:
- Must have graduated 10+ years ago (up to Class of 2015)
- Must have graduated from the Honors College (all pathways welcome – Foundations
(Formerly “Core”), Bridge, or Seminar)
Criteria:
Nominees must demonstrate:
- Scholarship: Continued education and a commitment to lifelong learning
- Leadership: Strong leadership in their career and beyond, including mentorship
- Community Service: Active engagement in their community
- Exceptional Impact: Remarkable contributions to their field, community, or society
Nomination Procedure:
To nominate an alumnus/a for one of these awards, please submit the following documentation through our online nomination form. Self-nominations welcome. You will be asked to include:
- Nominee’s Name (First & Last)
- Nominator’s Name (First and Last – (if different)
- Contact Information of Nominee (Phone and Email)
- Contact Information of Nominator (Phone and Email)
- Graduation Year of Nominee
- Graduation Year of Nominator
- Why should this person receive this award? (1 paragraph)
How to Submit Nominations:
Nominations can be made via our online form (link available here) by March 28, 2025 at 11:59p.m.
Selection Process:
The nomination form will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of Members of the Alumni Association and Honors College Faculty and Staff
Award Ceremony Details:
Awards will be presented at the Honors College Commencement Ceremony.
- Date: Wednesday, May 7 at 6:30 PM
- Awardees will receive:
- A printed certificate/plaque will be presented to each awardee
- The names of recipients will be added to a new plaque in the Honors College conference room.
