Dawn R. Patterson

Dawn Patterson received her M. Ed. and Ed. D. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Before coming to WCU, she was an instructor at Edinboro University. Dr. Patterson has over 20 years’ experience working with individuals with severe disabilities, specializing in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Her PreK-12 experiences range from preschool to adulthood. Her research interests include general curriculum access for students with severe disabilities and autism, literacy, and behavioral interventions for students with ASD. Dr. Patterson is passionate about assisting preservice and inservice teachers develop an understanding of ASD in schools.
