  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Irene Okonkwo CLASS OF 2027 MAJOR: NUTRITION AND DIETETICS DEPARTMENTS: RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING AND STUDENT ENGAGEMENT My student employment has prepared me for my future career by providing me with valuable skills and experiences that I need in a team setting. It's prepared me to know how to handle conflict effectively, how to communicate, and how to work together with people on my team.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Amie Donzo CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: EXERCISE SCIENCE AND PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT: RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING If I were to give a potential student employee some advice, I would say your staff is your backbone. Ask for help when needed - do not let yourself get overwhelmed when you have people to help you.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Avery Nill CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: LINGUISTICS MINOR: ARABIC DEPARTMENTS: DINING AND OPERATIONS, RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING, AND SYKES UNION & STUDENT ACTIVITIES Student employment has prepared me for a future career because I have mastered learning how to balance my work schedule, my mental health, and my life at home! I found that I am capable of pushing myself and can do much more than I ever thought possible! This, and the friends I've met along the way, have been priceless.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Claire Parmenter CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: MEDIA AND CULTURE DEPARTMENT: RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING On paper, my role is Social Media Management, but I have gained so much more experience than just that. I get to work in the office alongside wonderful staff, like Ashley and Bridget, who always encourage me. I also get to expand my skill set and build my network. I stumbled upon this position last year, and I couldn't imagine my life at West Chester without it!

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Caroline Rudderow CLASS OF 2028 MAJOR: MEDIA AND CULTURE DEPARTMENT: STUDENT EXPERIENCE On-campus jobs are a great way to step outside your comfort zone because you're in a familiar and comfortable environment, but you're still meeting new people, trying something new, and growing. You get to feel like you're part of the campus community and making an impact, even in small ways.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Devon Joseph CLASS OF 2028 ST CHE MAJOR: INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES JIVERS DEPARTMENT: RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING Working as a desk assistant taught me valuable skills like communication, responsibility, and how to effectively support others in a fast-paced environment. I learned how to handle a variety of situations, stay organized, and remain patient while helping students with different needs. Even though I wasn't accepted back into the position, I'm truly grateful for the experience because it helped me grow both personally and professionally. The role gave me confidence and a stronger sense of how I can be a reliable resource for others moving forward.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Gina Crandall CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: Biology, Microbiology Concentration DEPARTMENT: Wellness Promotion Being a student employee comes with a lot of benefits beyond just earning income. It allows you to gain real- world experience while building important skills like communication, time management, and professionalism. It also helps you stay more connected to what's going on at the university. On top of that, I've had the opportunity to make a positive impact on other students, while also growing personally and professionally.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT London Kamora CLASS OF 2028 MAJOR: ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MINOR: AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT: RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING I chose to become a student employee because I wanted to get more involved with my school and the community. • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Maya West CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS ANALYTICS DEPARTMENT: RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING I have learned how to lead with empathy while still maintaining responsibility and structure. Being in Residence Life has taught me how to navigate difficult conversations, support students through challenging situations, and make decisions that prioritize both safety and community. I have also developed stronger communication and problem solving skills that I know will translate directly into my future career.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Maria Mendez Zavala CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: Nutrition DEPARTMENT: Student Experience My student employment has prepared me for my future career by giving me practical experience in mentoring and leadership, which are essential in any professional setting. Managing this responsibility alongside my academics has also strengthened my organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities, all of which will be valuable as I move into my career.

  • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Sofia Boyer CLASS OF 2028 MAJOR: EARLY GRADES PREPARATION AND SPECIAL EDUATION DEPARTMENT: STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING Becoming a student employee allowed me to make connections with other students, campus departments, and offices. • STUDENT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Emma Haley CLASS OF 2026 MAJOR: Communication Studies MINOR: Human Resources Management DEPARTMENT: Residence Life & Housing Through this position, I've learned my role is part of a much larger mission. Everything I contribute supports the bigger picture of creating an effective, welcoming, and supportive Residential Life and Housing experience. Being part of a larger team has shown me that meaningful impact isn't always about one person's work, but about how we all contribute together toward a shared purpose!

I started to feel homesick my freshman year and founded Wellness Promotion, and now they are my West Chester family. As a Resident Assistant, I found a way to support students younger than me who know that I am there to help and support them in any way possible.
