Absence Notification

The Office of the AVP for Health and Wellness provides assistance and support for students who miss a minimum of three class days due to illness, personal, or family emergencies. To utilize this service, the student or family member needs to acquire appropriate documentation and then complete the Absence Notification Request Form. Students are still required to contact professors for guidance related to any missed work during the absence.

COVID-19 Absences:

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) now treats COVID-19 like several other respiratory viruses, including Influenza (Flu) and RSV. For this academic year, students who test positive for COVID-19 and experience no symptoms may continue attending class and co-curricular activities while taking safety precautions (masking, distancing, hand washing, etc.)

If a student tests positive for COVID-19 and has a fever or symptoms, they should isolate and not attend classes until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and have improved symptoms. Individuals no longer must isolate for 5 full days unless symptoms are not improving. Upon returning to class or other activities, they should take safety precautions for the next 5 days (masking, distancing, hand washing, etc.). If a student has COVID-19 and symptoms, they need a medical note to obtain an absence notification.

Students or family members with any questions can connect with our office at studentassistance@wcupa.edu.
