Trans Advocacy

Spring 2025 - March 25, 12-1pm

Trans, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer… what exactly does it all mean? This one-hour training will review terminology, problematic language, WCU policies, and qualities of an advocate as it relates to the transgender and non-binary communities and experiences. Participants will also discuss how society interacts with trans folks and what you can do to strengthen your advocacy. Trans Advocacy

From Allyship to Advocacy Training

This training is available by request only (see Training Request Form below).
What does it mean to be an ally vs an advocate? During this 2-hour training participants will critically examine privilege, explore language, discuss strategies for accountability and ways to improve the climate for trans and queer communities. This training will provide tools and resources aimed towards deepening awareness, understanding, and knowledge. Why is everyone talking about intersectionality? What does it even mean? This one-hour training will center trans and queer people of color identities and experiences. Participants will discuss the intersections of race, gender & sexuality and strategies for advocacy. Intersectionality in Practice

Intro to CTQA

This experience provides an overview of the resources and services offered by the Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy. Students will be provided information about the office's visibility, outreach, programming, education, and community building efforts. Additionally, there will be an introduction to LGBTQIA+ experiences and strategies on how to support/advocate for trans and queer communities on campus and beyond. This program is offered through the Ram Plan and can be accessed virtually through the Ram Plan D2L!
