Upcoming Courses

On this page, we'll share our upcoming department courses, broken down by category. You will always find the most complete and updated list of English courses in RamPortal.

Course Policies

The English Department offers a range of courses that meet various General Education requirements, including First-Year Writing classes, every semester. If you do not see a specific course or section that meets your needs or schedule for the current or upcoming term, there’s a strong chance that we will offer one in the next semester. We recommend registering for classes as soon as possible after your registration appointment to ensure that you get the courses you need when you need them.

Please be aware of the following department policies as you plan your upcoming semester:

  • The English department will not over-enroll a full class, especially a First-Year Writing or Writing Emphasis class. Responding to a single writing assignment can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes per essay, which means that it takes faculty anywhere from 6-12 hours to grade a writing assignment for a single 25-student class. For every student we over-enroll, a faculty member will need to set aside additional response time for each assignment over the course of the semester or give every student in class less useful feedback on their writing across the semester. As such, this policy is in place to maintain quality instruction and the best student-classroom experience possible.
  • The English department will not allow students to join a class after the add/drop period has passed. A significant amount of work has already occurred in the class once the add/drop period ends, and you would be at a serious disadvantage for the entire semester if you joined a class so late.

If you are concerned these policies might prevent you from graduating, please contact the department at English@wcupa.edu as soon as possible.
