Curriculum Vitae

Professor Haughey serves as the faculty technical director and sound design mentor for all shows produced by the Department of Theatre and Dance. Through more than a decade of experience in both professional and academic settings, he has developed a broad range of technical skills that allow him to bring a unique perspective to the classroom and stage. His courses, such as stagecraft, sound design, scenic construction and rigging and AutoCAD, train students in the practical application of theatre production and scenic construction. Thomas' professional experience in scenic design and production includes work for Wilmington Drama League, Elizabethtown College, The University of Connecticut, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Beaver College (now Arcadia University), The People's Light and Theatre Company, and ESPN, as well as numerous seasons of one-a-week summer stock in New Jersey. He is a member of The United States Institute for Theatre Technology. He has been recognized with certificates of merit for sound design and technical achievement from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), region 2. Thomas has also been published with his work in the museum studies minor in Anthropology and Sociology, most recently including WCU 150th celebration, 50 years of Earth Day and Faces of the Berlin Wall. When not busy, he consults on theater infrastructure projects for local high schools and still plays soccer.
