Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour, evidence based public education program designed to teach everyday citizens the skills to help someone struggling with a mental health concern or crisis. The course teaches how to identify risk factors and warning signs and to understand and respond with a practical action plan. Updated in 2019, the program now includes a two-hour self paced portion that participants complete prior to attending the instructor led portion. As a result, the courses close earlier to allow time for the online pre-work. Participants who complete the program are certified as a “Mental Health First Aider,” which is a certificate that is renewable every three years.

Participants must complete the two hour pre-work online, and attend all 6 hours of the instructor led portion, to receive certification.

If you would like to attend a course that's full, please check back to this site for new course offerings.

This is an excellent opportunity for our students, faculty and staff to get this training, free of charge, on our campus.
