Students Report Terminology and Usage

The chart below shows a brief description of the filters available in Navigate to build your Students Report list.

Navigate reports are not to be used for longitudinal or historic data reporting. If you need this type of data - submit a ServiceNow ticket.

  Total Credit Hours Earned This field automatically defaults to "exactly", but you can change the conditions by clicking on the caret. Exactly/Is Not/ less than/less than or equal to/greater than/greater than or equal to/between/is empty/is not empty    
Number of Appointments See "Exactly" definition, See "Exactly" definition dropdown Between allows you add a low to high range. *Value requires a number.  
Student Area of Study College This field automatically defaults to "contains any", but you can change the conditions by clicking on the caret. Contains any, does not contain any, contains all, does not contain all, is empty, is not empty Select College as a field, if you want to create your report with department information. You can choose more than one department for your report. Check Filters Logic: Defaults to AND (student has to be in both), if you have two or more departs – change to OR (student can be in one or the other), or ADV filter AND/OR
  Concentration See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. The value section contains Advanced Standing and Certificate.  
  Degree See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. Degrees: Dropdown list. Scroll down list or type a few letters. Can add one or more degrees.
  Major – (Also includes list of minors) See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. Majors: Dropdown list. Includes: Certificate, Elective Certificate, Honors, Non-Degree… Minors: Dropdown list.
Student Goals & Interest Favorite Fields, Favorite Major, Post Degree Goals Information was collected from various surveys. This category rarely used.   Rarely used.  
Student Information Includes student demographics such as first/last name, gender, email, race, student ID The Condition varies depending on the filter you choose. Contains, exactly, does not equal, is empty is not empty, starts with, ends with, from, to between, any, none Use this filter if you need data on gender, race, or ethnicity.  
  Categories – Contains student attributes and characteristics. This includes listings for Colleges, as well as attributes like Athlete, First Gen, Commuter, Sport Teams, FY (First Year), Grad, Academic Warning, Registration Start Date, and more. See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. Select College of… if you want to create a student list for a College. You can select more than one category for your report. This allows you to pick Athletes who are first gen students or College of XXX with Athletes.
  Course (Course Number) This field automatically defaults to "is", but you can change the conditions by clicking on the caret. Contains: Is, is not, Is empty, is not empty The current term will populate in this selection. This can be changed by clicking on the caret. Value: A list of courses available in the current term will populate the dropdown list. Start to type any course ID to locate the course you are interested in. Creating a Student List using the Course item will give you a list of students enrolled in the course/all sections.
  Tags See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. Includes information related to appeals, dismissal, and probation. Includes NEW students for each semester. If you want to see who the "New Students" are in your department, include this filter in your report. Navigate can be used to send a welcoming message or other invites to your NEW students.
Student Performance Data Credit Comp %, Credits Earned, GPAs, Hours Attempted, Term Credit Hours (contains term) See "Exactly" definition, See "Exactly" definition dropdown If you need to create a student list with a range of GPAs or credit hours. This filter will allow you to create ranges or use greater than and less than conditions. Value is a number field. (e.g. Add Filter after choosing Dept. field: CUM GPA, Condition: less than 2.0, will produce a list of students not achieving academic standing in your department for the current term. To further define select Classification and check off the student class you want to focus on.
Student Polls Information gathered each semester from the Navigate Intake Survey. Students do this survey the first time they access Navigate. See "is" definition See "is" definition dropdowns. Rarely used  
Student Staff Assignments Relationship type, then choose assigned to: See "is" definition See "is" definition dropdowns. Use this field to access Advisors (major, minor, certificate), and more staff relationships. Add this field to your report (department/major) if you want to create a list of students with their advisor assignments. You can also change the Condition to "is empty" to see which students do not have an advisor assigned.
Student Success Indicators Predicted Support Level See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. Value Choices: Low, Moderate, High, and Unknown Predicted Support Level. The Predicted Support Levels are determined by an algorithm created by Navigate to predict if a student will need additional support to be successful.
Student Term Data Classification, Enrolled with Professor. Section tagged with, Term GPA. All items include term (defaults to current term). Depending on the item you choose, the condition will be "contains any" or "exactly" Contains any, does not contain any, contains all, does not contain all, is empty, is not empty. Or- Exactly/Is Not/ less than/less than or equal to/greater than/greater than or equal to/between/is empty/is not empty    
  Classification (should include in all reports) See "contains any" definition, See "contains any" definition dropdowns. Use this field to specify a list of student classifications. If you're interested in targeting only certain classifications, such as FR-SR, JR-SR, or GR. Check off the classes you want to appear in your report that are enrolled for the specified term. Note: Navigate only list matriculated students. You cannot access a list of prospective or graduated students.
