Designing for Equity: Using UDL to Create an Equitable & Inclusive Classroom 

Join the TLC staff on Zoom on Thursday, October 16 at 10:00am for a flexible format workshop to discuss the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to design equitable and inclusive classrooms! We aim to allow faculty to tailor the experience to their own knowledge, experience, and goals. Are you new to UDL? Do you want to improve your courses in one of the three UDL areas? We’ll have instructional designers on hand to work with you on what matters most to you.

Introductory Hypothesis Workshop: Activating Annotation

When: Tuesday, November 18 at 2:00pm
Where: Online, via Zoom

The Hypothesis team will share how teachers are using annotation-powered reading to help students develop foundational academic skills like close reading and persuasive writing. In addition to sharing pedagogical best practices for social annotation, we will demonstrate how Hypothesis is used with course readings in your LMS, including how to set up annotation assignments. 

Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to start incorporating social annotation into their courses to improve student outcomes. These sessions are great introductions to using Hypothesis and social annotation in your courses.


Hypothesis Workshop: Social Annotation for Digital Reading in the Age of AI

When: Wednesday, December 3 at 11:00am
Where: Online, via Zoom

How do digital environments and generative AI shape student reading? This workshop explores how social annotation with Hypothesis supports active, critical, and mindful reading in the digital age. Participants will examine research on digital reading, learn how annotation can reduce distractions and deepen comprehension, and explore ways to foster authentic engagement with or without AI tools. The session includes best practices for integrating Hypothesis with AI and a demo of setting up readings in your LMS. Participants will leave with practical strategies and ready-to-use assignments to enhance digital reading and interaction.
