Why did you study French at WCU?

I studied French, along with German and Spanish, because I knew I wanted to teach language and knew it would open doors for me. It was also a great excuse to travel and experience different cultures.

Why did you study French at WCU?

I initially took my first few French courses at WCU for a major requirement. The professors of French language, history, and culture I had at WCU were dynamic teachers and excellent guides in every regard. Their care and attention to students convinced me to take more courses and finish a minor in French!

What have you done since graduating from WCU?

I am currently working for the Pennsylvania Senate as a Communications Assistant. The position focuses on developing press releases, social media, and constituent services. I am currently applying for international positions that require proficiency in French.

Sima Bobaky, B.A. in French, 2023

Why did you study French at WCU?

I studied French at WCU to expand my knowledge in languages and aid in my journey of becoming a polyglot. Being already fluent in both English and Arabic, I wanted to add French. Indeed, I found it easier to learn with my linguistic background and I also believed (and still do!) that it is a fun and playful language that is shared among many different cultures. I’d like to become a polyglot as an aspiring physician to help me connect with my patients of different language backgrounds better. Studying French got me closer to my goal!

What have you done since graduating from WCU?

Since graduation, I have been attending medical school where I will be working on obtaining my medical degree in the next 3 years! I am currently learning Spanish on my own and I look forward to becoming the physician that I dream of.
